7And Elisha came to Damascus, and Ben-hadad king of Aram was sick, and they told him, saying, "The man of God has come here."8And the king said to Hazael, "Take an offering in your hand and go to meet the man of God and inquire of the LORD from him, saying, 'Will this disease of mine live?'"9Hazael went to meet him. He took an offering with him—every good thing of Damascus, a load for forty camels—and came and stood before him and said, "Your son Ben-hadad king of Aram has sent me to you, saying, 'Will I recover from this sickness?'"10And he said to him, "Elisha: Go, say to him, 'You will live; you live,' but the LORD has shown me that he will die; death he will die."11And he fixed his face until he was ashamed, and he wept, the man of God.12And Hazael said, "Why, my lord, do you weep?" And he said, "Because I know the evil you will do to the sons of Israel: you will send fire into their fortresses, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and you will dash their little ones, and you will rip open their pregnant women."13And Hazael said, "How could your servant, this dog, do this great thing?" And Elisha said, "The LORD has shown me that you will be king over Aram."14And he went from Elisha and came to his lord and said to him, "What did Elisha say to you?" And he said, "He said to me, 'You shall live! You shall live.'"15And it was on the next day, and he took the makber and dipped it in the water and spread it over his face, and he died. And Hazael reigned in his place.
